Comedy - Similar to Seinfeld and HIMYM, a story being told by a person telling others in a booth at a restaurant, pub or on a train. potentially more people come around and ask questions about the story as time goes on. Sort of like an SNL sketch. The story will be about how Zak - the protagonist is always late to every event, including the meeting in the booth, with the friends quizzing Zak on the odd description that he gives them.
Sci-fi - A new president of America (Or a made up country) has just been voted into power, however with some sources saying they cheated and the fact they had less overall votes (Collegial voting system), the country is in turmoil and almost purge like (See video for Stephen - Crossfire for visual influences). So the movie follows a family trying to escape the riots in the city, parents trying to get their kids ready and drive away
Drama (with a hint of romance) - A woman - Laura - walks into a take away/restaurant (Five Guys, Romeos or one of the Sunbridge Wells bars, bfd) and a woman - Sam - is sitting down eating chips and watching her order food. Laura sits in the stall next to Sam. Sam sits waiting, thinking about whether to go back and talk to her or not whilst eating their last chips and finishing their drink, and decides to go to the toilet. When she comes out, she sits directly across the Laura in her booth. Laura looking a bit puzzled at Sam but says nothing as she tries to ignore Sam looking intrigued at her face. Dialogue is finally initiated by Laura's frustration and confusion and a deep conversation happens between the two women. Laura is a smart, clean and polite girl with an obvious darker side. Sam is a ruder, smart and more hipster girl with the bandana headband, and several tattoos on her arms (inspiration from Kehlani (Looks) and Sam White (Attitude) from Dear White People) the two women end up discussing racial, sexual and gender equality with cut scenes of news reports and flashbacks of the things they mention, as Sam tries to convince Laura that she's always right (inspiration - Newsroom ep1. scene 1) and the tone will be similar to the movie "Dope" without all the drugs obviously.
The film is largely inspired by this clip from the very controversial movie: Dear White People
Action - A boy who's just discovered he has superpowers is being hunted down and has to try lose the mysterious people chasing him, and he doesn't know how to use his powers so he can't hurt the people. The boy will be chased through fields and into a farmers barn where he'll start using his powers but not know how to properly control them.
Thriller - one mad man, one room, one hostage and one hallucination (inspiration: A beautiful mind).
Drama - Following the story of a boy who finds it hard to fit in because he always wears a bike helmet.
Victor these needs strengthening a bit = the last one is more of a tagline, it needs to be a viable short film idea.
